This post is mainly for my friends and family, however I hope that everyone reading it will get a view into the mind of someone who has been called to be a missionary. I know a lot of you may not understand just why it is that I am leaving everything behind to go be homeless for a year. Why I am leaving dreams, and big plans for orphans and ministry in strange, hard to pronounce places. I will do my best to explain it but in the end you may still not understand, but I hope that you will respect my decision.
Success is something most everyone yearns for. I don’t think that you can put a true definition on what it means to be successful though. To some, it may mean being financially independent, owning a home, car, and all the “stuff” that goes along with the American Dream. This has become our normal because it’s how we all were raised and how our society programs us to be. Everyday were surrounded by the media and the American culture telling us that we need to buy, eat, drink, drive, wear, CONSUME! The next newest thing. It has gotten outrageous. I however believe success is living in a way that brings happiness into your heart and the hearts of others. God does have a plan for us all if we choose to listen to him and accept it. I have chosen to follow the path that he has laid out before me. This is why I will go…
In my short time so far here on this earth, there are many things I have come to learn and realize. One of these being that God loves us all very much. We, human beings, as a whole have screwed up pretty bad. We defy his word on a daily basis. We live for self-gratification and rarely think of our neighbors. There is so much hate and sin everywhere and we are immersed in it on a daily basis. I think the fact that God sent his only son to die on the cross for our sins, yes ours, is probably confusing to us. Why would he save us when he knew we would choose to live this way? I think it’s because he knew there would come a time when we would all begin to wake up and observe the reality around us. A time when we would come together and actively change the way we live as a whole.
People have been (in small groups) trying to help and change the world for a long time. They have been telling others from all walks of life about Jesus and the words he spoke and the things he did. I see that more and more people are becoming aware of the terrible things going on in some parts of the world. How miserably our brothers and sisters outside of our over consuming, self-gratifying American dream bubble are living. Awareness is the first step, but action is the next. This is where our purpose comes in. Some of us may be called into the field, to be on the front lines so to speak. Others of us may be called to help out financially and with logistical matters. In the end it all helps and matters because it brings new life to those who had lost hope.
Now you might be saying to yourself, Oh that’s a lofty aspiration, but can it and will it happen? This is proof that it is and will continue to happen. http://vimeo.com/37119711 this has broken the hearts of those who have seen it, and made them want to take action. It made them aware, brought about the will to bring change, and to put an end to this terrible oppression and enslavement. All it takes is awareness to spark that will for change and hope in us. The more we spread the awareness and caring nature, the more it will become normal for us to do. Acts of Kindness are contagious, and will spread rapidly.
My true goal is to one day bring change to this world in a positive way. I don’t yet know how or what that will be, but God has called me to be a missionary. This is the first step in bringing forth something great. I pray that he helps me to fulfill my purpose and to have the courage and strength to complete everything I am asked to do. I pray that each and every one of you find and fulfill your purpose here on this earth if you are not already doing so. I have a big year coming up guys/girls. This is my chance to do something great. I need the support of all of you, prayerfully, and financially if you can. Click the support me link to the left to help me financially. Thanks!

Making the commitment to The World Race is a huge step, but I am ALL IN and so excited to see how God moves through me and my team. So much inspiration has come to me through reading other racers blogs, and this was one of the factors that made me want to go on TWR. I want to see what they talk about seeing and feel and experience all of the amazing things that God is showing them. I am sure many others feel this way as well, which is why we choose to go.
I cannot wait to share my experiences here and share what God is doing through me. I hope that I will be able to inspire others the same way that I was moved, and motivated. Just in the past couple months I have already seen God do amazing things in my life. He has given me the strength to let go and live more in the way he intended for me to live. He has helped me to meet good loving friends, that are very supportive of me and what lies ahead. He brought me to an amazing church that is doing awesome things in the community.
If these are the things he is doing here in simple Greenville SC, I can only imagine how much will be done in 11 different countries for 11 months!
Love to September 2012 route 3, cant wait to live with all of you all over the world for 11 months. Its going to be amazing.
